Eric Slaughter has been with Superior Industrial Supply since February of 2019. He brings a wealth of product knowledge and sales experience to the team. Eric believes strong relationships are the foundation for doing business with his customers. He will be covering the northern Metro East Illinois sales territory.
Q: Tell us about your experience prior to working at Superior Industrial Supply.
A: I’ve been selling industrial products to customers for over 22 years. In fact, I spent 20 years working for Fastenal before joining the team here. I held several positions there as an Outside Sales Rep, a General Manager and a Government Sales Specialist. I’ve gained a lot of experience over the years, especially with industry-specific product knowledge.
Q: Why were you excited to join the Superior team?
A: My primary objective is to help my customers solve problems. Superior allows me the opportunity to focus on building relationships with my customers, rather than worrying about other aspects like purchasing, inventory control or merchandising the store. I also like that Superior is a local company, not a big corporation. The owners are present and involved so you can talk to them about ideas or concerns. They have a tremendous reputation for excellent service. It’s what they’re known for and that’s very important to me.
Q: Is there a specific skill set that you believe will be beneficial to Superior?
A: Relationship building is my strong suit. The way Superior does business allows me to do that to a much greater degree than other companies. Superior offers support that handles ordering, purchasing and receiving so I can focus solely on the customer’s needs.
Q: What interests you the most about this industry?
A: I loveseeing all the different things my customers build and create. I love to help them run their businesses more efficiently, make their customers happier, improve their turnaround and ultimately help them save some money.
